Biographical Details

Dr. Vera Miloslavskaya joined the University of New England as a Lecturer in Information Technology in February 2024. From November 2018 to January 2024, she was working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sydney.

Dr. Vera Miloslavskaya has substantial experience in Coding Theory and growing experience in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. Her research primarily focuses on the design and analysis of error-correcting codes that are essential for ensuring reliable data transmission over noisy communication channels. Without these sophisticated coding techniques, modern technologies—from mobile phones to deep-space communications, from solid-state drives to quantum computers—would be impossible. Modern error-correcting codes draw upon linear algebra, probability theory, graph theory, optimization theory, information theory, and artificial intelligence. Vera's publications focus on polar codes, though she has also worked on Reed-Solomon, BCH, and generalized concatenated codes. Additionally, she has experience with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection. She has published 14 Q1 IEEE papers, 10 conference proceedings, and 6 US patents. In recent years, her efforts have concentrated on designing polar codes with high error-correction capability and acceptable decoding complexity. Vera's current research develops advanced polar code design to ensure reliable data transmission for future generations of mobile communications.
