Biographical Details
Lisa Ward is a law academic at UNE and a popular teacher of business law. She has also taught Advertising, Journalism, Creative Writing and Film Studies. Lisa has an LLB; BA; Post-Grad Dip in Communications/Media, and a Masters. Lisa has worked in leading law firms and with barristers. She previously worked as a Communications Consultant and had a media career in television and radio. Lisa has written and directed film and theatre, as well as winning an award for Directing Comedy. She produces and hosts Law in the Bush, the Law School’s podcast series showcasing her colleagues’ legal research. Her contribution of 12 chapters to a book on Business Law in Australia was published in 2020. In 2022, she presented at an international conference on Media Law and Policy with a spotlight on comedians, journalists and freedom of speech. She continues researching and writing about business law, freedom of speech, defamation and social media. Her latest publication is a chapter on Defamation in Social Media and International Law.
