Kosar’s research focus has been investigating poultry nutrition, gut health, and transcriptomics in poultry. Since the ban of antibiotic growth promoters in most parts of the world, the emergence of many gut diseases such as necrotic enteritis has caused devastating losses for the poultry industry. Kosar is extensively investigating necrotic enteritis and its effects on different gut health parameters in the chicken. Her focus is exploring and understanding the underlying mechanisms of this disease at a molecular level. Finding new strategies and solutions for replacing antibiotics in poultry feed is another area of her research. She is currently working closely with international companies to explore different feed additives to help improve gut health and benefit the poultry industry. Kosar is a lecturer in Poultry Nutrition, teaching Animal Nutrition and Poultry production to undergraduate and postgraduate students at UNE.
