Biographical Details

Applying an eclectic breadth of educational qualifications that includes degrees in agricultural science, plant secondary-chemical ecology, naturopathy and adult education; and life experiences that include tertiary study both full and part time, on campus and online; fulltime commercial livestock production; complementary medicine practice; and fulltime academia, Dr Humphries has a passion for facilitating student-centred access to higher education for aspiring health professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, and aiming toward a variety of career paths.  

Experience in curriculum development at UNE includes initiating and designing a number of innovative programs in health science, including creating pathways from the vocational sector and promoting inclusive and seamless student experiences.

As coordinator for the interprofessional undergraduate units in the School of Health, Dr Humphries is working to build an accessible, inclusive and professionally relevant program of study that spans the traditional discipline areas of Nursing, Social Work, Community Services and Psychology to engage students in developing a professional identity that is wholistic and patient/client-focussed.
