Personal profile

Biographical Details

I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology. Prior to this role, I was a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Federation University, and also a Lecturer in Psychology at UNE, which is where I completed my PhD on cannabis use. Before embarking on my doctoral studies, I held many research roles, including positions at the National Breast Cancer Centre, the NSW Institute of Psychiatry, the Young People & Early Psychosis Intervention Centre, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and the University of Western Sydney, which is where I completed my Master of Sciences (Hons) in psychophysiology. My initial degree, a BA (psychology major) was completed at UNE.

My research interests and experience are broadly focused on the complex and dynamic interrelationships underpinning biopsychosocial wellbeing across the lifespan. This includes factors that promote its development and support its maintenance, but also those factors that act to undermine it. As such, my research topics include: psychosocial wellbeing; psychological stress, distress, and trauma; drug and alcohol use and addiction; health and health-promoting behaviours; personality, the self, and identity development; gender equality. Psychological testing, assessment, psychometrics, and research methodology are also areas of research interest and experience. I supervise Honours and PhD students within these areas of research.

I currently coordinate PSYC371/471 Individual Differences and Assessment, and also teach into PSYC363 Psychopathology.
