Biographical Details

Dr Hadley is an applied environmental and agricultural economist with research interests ranging from environmental valuation methodologies, to the analysis of the uptake of new agricultural technologies in developing countries. His principal research interests are concerned with the valuation of ecosystem goods and services and economic assessment methodologies that incorporate these valuations (predominately cost-benefit analysis). In the past the focus of this research has been on 'wet' ecosystems; wetlands, river water quality and marine and coastal environments. He also has a further strand of research based in efficiency and productivity analysis; particularly with respect to agricultural production, and with the incorporation of environmental externalities into measures of productivity. More recent research has been concerned with the efficiency of agricultural production in Africa and with the adoption of new techniques by smallholder African farmers.
