Dr Wellett Potter was a signatory to the Future of Life Institute open letter, ‘Pause Giant AI Experiments’, which called on AI laboratories to implement an immediate six-month pause on training AI systems more powerful than GPT-4, to allow time for improved governance and safety frameworks. This reflected her ongoing research and public engagement on responsible AI development and regulation.
